Background

Made in BC - Dance on Tour connects dance artists and presenters from around British Columbia in order to increase audience reach and touring opportunities for contemporary dance. In bringing together BC presenters, dance artists and audiences, Made in BC serves the entire province by expanding networks, knowledge and support for the contemporary dance sector.

Connecting presenters:

Made in BC develops, connects and provides resources for a network of dance presenters from around the province in locations such as Courtenay, Nanaimo, Nelson, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Salt Spring Island, Terrace and Vernon. The presenters share the goal of showcasing and raising awareness of BC contemporary dance and Made In BC works to support the local activities that achieve these goals.

We host an annual Breaking New Ground forum in Vancouver each fall to facilitate networking between presenters, dance outreach workers and dance artists as well as the opportunity to attend workshops, discussions and performances.

Connecting dance artists:

Made in BC brings together dance artists with dance presenters from around the province with the Groundwork resource document and spring pitch session as well as the Breaking New Ground forum.

Groundwork compiles information on tour-ready ready dance artists and is distributed to potential presenters around the province and the country. A shortlist of dance artists featured in Groundwork participate in a pitch session that connects dance artists to presenters in person.

We also offer networking sessions, tour information and resources for dance artists.

Connecting audiences:

Made in BC locates and supports the efforts of local dance outreach coordinators in communities around the province who work with regional media and deliver dance workshops and master classes as well as post-performance discussions in an effort to connect audiences and raise awareness of contemporary dance at a local level.

Made in BC exists to create connections between presenters, dance artists and audiences; enhance exposure to dance and develop strong networks and resources for contemporary dance in British Columbia.
