The Shortlist2010 marks Made in BC's 5th Pitch Session. This year, we received 21 expressions of interest, 20 letters of intent, and 14 applications in total. All the applications were compiled and distributed to the presenters, who are then asked to assess each applicant based on suitability of the work to their community & to their season, overall quality, outreach activities available, as well as price. Each presenter makes their selections, which we use to determine a shortlist of applicants. Shortlisted applicants have been invited to Made in BC's annual Pitch Session which will take place on March 24, 2010. This year also marks the first where we've posted information about each of the shortlisted applicants on our website. We're super excited to be sharing this information with you! Click on the touring proposals below for more details about the shortlisted applicants, including contact information, photos, brief descriptions, and links to videos of the work available on the internet.
Pitch SessionThe Pitch Session consists of face-to-face meetings facilitated by Made in BC between dance companies shortlisted from Groundwork, the Made in BC regional presenter network, and invited guests. The first Pitch Session was in 2006 and each meeting is scheduled prior to Pacific Contact. Presenters choose which companies will tour as a result of this process. Its format has developed, and will continue to develop, balancing the needs of both the dance artists and the presenters. Our next Pitch Session is on March 24, 2010 for works to be considered in the 2011/12 season. For information on how to submit an application, please see details below. GroundworkGroundwork is a resource document that assembles information from tour-ready dance artists and circulates this to Made in BC's regional presenters. Groundwork was developed as a way to share information with our peers and colleagues about the range of dance activity in British Columbia If you are a professional BC contemporary dance artist interested in regional touring in British Columbia, you should submit a proposal to Groundwork. **Please note that applications are now closed. The next deadline for proposals will be announced this Fall.**EXAMPLE OF APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD HERE.
