Spooky Action

“Spooky Action” is an interdisciplinary dance project that brings together contemporary dance, text and new composition to investigate the quantum property of entanglement. First described by Einstein in the 1930s, particle entanglement prompted international media attention in 2015 when the NIST lab provided a final proof that the property is almost certainly real. We see promising parallels between this research and the curiosity that drives our own work. Led by choreographer Lesley Telford with writer Barbara Adler, the proposed work seeks to explore entanglement as a metaphor for the ways human lives are connected. Bringing together science and a team of trans-disciplinary artists Spooky Action at a Distance explores the potential for connection and collaboration between our different modes of knowing. In a fundamental sense, the discovery of entanglement is heartening for us, because it seems to suggest that our world is still infinitely surprising.

 

Inverso Productions is a platform for the creation of interdisciplinary performance, directed by Lesley Telford, choreographer and former dancer of Netherlands Dans Theatre 1. Founded in Madrid in 2012, Inverso is now a Vancouver-based company celebrating its 2016-7 inaugural season as a Canadian company. Inverso is a platform for exchange, with the goal of creating and building interdisciplinary works alongside other artists as well as focusing on career development for the emerging professional. Inverso has toured with the work “Brittle Failure” in Spain, the Netherlands and in Canada and has performed in the Festival de Madrid en Danza, the Cadance Festival and the Chutzpah Festival. Inverso is now proud to be a part of the Canadian dance community.
