You wake up in darkness… find yourself on a train. No memory of where you got on. And the headlight’s on, and the silver of the rails it’s like the moon thrown across dark water.

WITHIN|BETWEEN is about the moment before you decide to act, when you vanish within yourself. Then, when you want to return, what if there’s no way back?

WITHIN|BETWEEN is the third performance in the collaborative venture FOR BODY AND LIGHT between dancer/choreographer Stephanie Morin-Robert and spoken word poet Ian Ferrier. A stunning celebration of sound and vision, movement and space, the work creates a visual poetry; an immersive experience connecting the liminal space between thought and action. Featuring a breathtaking use of light Morin-Robert and Ferrier’s work has been described as “striking and magical” and “a ravishing meditation”. The spoken word element enhances the accessibility of the work making it ideal for dance experts and new-to-dance audiences alike.

When Stéphanie was 2-years-old she lost her left eye to cancer and has had a glass eye ever since. Her solo show BLINDSIDE is a feat of riveting comedy, recounting her life as a feisty 7-year-old wielding her glass eye as a superpower.

With a degree in Performance and Contemporary Dance, she is known for her expansive interpretation of choreography and merging of physical comedy and dance. Over the last few years Stephanie has built a distinctive repertoire of works, featuring a cutting edge hybrid of contemporary performance forms.

Recently completing a tour of the US and Canada (May-Aug 2017) with 3 different shows to sold-out venues and numerous rave reviews, Stephanie is positioned to take her career to the next level of professional presentation. She offers a rare flexibility to build main stage tours appealing to a wide range of presenters often performing different works during the same tour.

I offer storytelling, contemporary dance, and solo show-building workshops in both French and/or English. With regards to Within|Between I focus on integrating spoken word and dance using voice as an extension of the body.

These optional workshops focus on guiding participants to write and/or choreograph their own personal experience or poetry into a short performance. A selection of these short pieces or pieces by local poets may then be invited to open the show. This not only offers locals the opportunity to share and connect with other members of their community, but it also allows me to bridge the separation between ‘audience member’ and ‘performer’, by creating a safe place to share and by promoting honesty, vulnerability and empathy. These workshops have been successful with both youth (high school age kids) and adults.
