The 2017 Made in BC Pitch Day will be held in partnership with the PuSh Festival 2017 Industry Series. More information coming soon!
Made in BC presenters meet with the short-listed dance artists and/or companies to decide on who will be selected for a provincial tour. Artists are given time to talk about their touring work, community engaged activity, scheduling, technical issues, and fees and to show video and answer questions from the presenters. The relationships that have formed at Pitch Sessions have spring-boarded other programming, such as residencies, school tours, and workshops. While the main objective of the Pitch Session is to select an upcoming tour, it is also an important professional development and networking event for both artists and presenters.
After the touring companies are selected, Made in BC works with our presenting partners and the artists to organize a tour. We provide funding assistance, logistical, and administrative support while our Presenters pay the balance of performance fees not covered by our support, space and in-kind staffing to make the shows happen. By ensuring that each tour has at least three stops, Made in BC makes the venture financially viable for both the touring artists and our presenting partners.
